There are aluminum loading ramps available for all kinds of loading purposes, including Cars, trucks, ATVs, wheelchairs, motorcycles and more. There are textured surfaces, rubberized coatings, flat and arched ramps, folding ramps, and ramps that can be stored in the back of a pick up truck. Extenders are available for longer than usual objects.
Ramps are capable of holding a lot of weight per pair, but it is best to discuss the purchase with the salesperson who can advise you of load capacity. Heavy-duty ramps are available for loading something that is heavier than usual. Construction aluminum loading ramps are made especially to carry the added weight of forklifts, skid steers, trucks, ditch witches and more. These are loading ramps that are constructed from lightweight grade aircraft aluminum.
Arched aluminum loading ramps make it easier to load a longer then normal vehicle. The arch prevents the object from getting “hung up” as you load and unload. If you are loading a lawn tractor, for example, the arched ramp provides enough clearance that the mowing deck doesnt get caught as it loads into the truck. A set of folding arched ramps makes them easier to store.
ATVs need either bi-fold, tri fold or runner style ramps. The difference is simply a matter of choice, but the runner style aluminum loading ramps are much more versatile, and are capable of loading a mower, also. If you have to choose, and you are going to be loading a mower and an ATV, choose the runner style.
Motorcycles should always be loaded using a single ramp, especially if the bike is very large. You should never use a bi-fold or tri fold aluminum loading ramps to load a motorcycle. The weight distribution is different with a two-wheeled vehicle, and single ramps handle the load better. Safety should always come first when loading and unloading a vehicle, no matter what kind.
